ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday urged the nation to draw guidance from the life and teachings of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) and make justice, compassion, hard work and service to humanity central to their lives.
In separate messages marking Eid Miladun Nabi, both leaders extended greetings to the people of Pakistan and the Muslim Ummah on the birth anniversary of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).
President Zardari Calls for Justice and Tolerance
President Zardari said the occasion served as a reminder of the blessings of divine guidance and the exemplary character of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).
He urged citizens to promote justice, fairness, tolerance, inter-sectarian harmony and interfaith understanding in society.
The president also stressed the importance of protecting human dignity and drawing practical lessons from the life of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).
He said the teachings of the Prophet provide guidance on faith, justice, mercy and noble character.
PM Shehbaz Calls for a Strong and Prosperous Pakistan
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said Pakistan could overcome its economic, social and moral challenges by shaping collective life according to the guidance of Islam.
He called upon citizens to play their role in building a strong, prosperous, peaceful and welfare-oriented Pakistan.
In a separate message, the prime minister said the life and teachings of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) remained an eternal source of guidance for humanity.
He highlighted compassion, justice, tolerance, unity and service to others as important principles that should guide individual and collective conduct.
Call for Unity and Service to Humanity
The prime minister urged the nation to pledge itself to improving personal character and collective behaviour in accordance with the teachings of Seeratun Nabi.
He also called for collective efforts to build a peaceful and prosperous Pakistan.
The messages from the president and prime minister came as Muslims across Pakistan and around the world observe Eid Miladun Nabi, marking the birth anniversary of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
Muslims traditionally observe the occasion on 12 Rabiul Awwal, the third month of the Islamic lunar calendar, with religious gatherings, prayers and programmes highlighting the life and teachings of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).
Leaders Stress Practical Lessons from Seerat
The messages emphasised that Eid Miladun Nabi should not only be observed as a religious occasion but should also serve as an opportunity to reflect on the principles of justice, mercy, tolerance, dignity and service to humanity.
Both leaders called on Pakistanis, particularly the younger generation, to take inspiration from the Seerat of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and contribute towards a more peaceful, tolerant and prosperous society.
