Eid Miladun Nabi: Pakistan Marks Holy Prophet’s 1,500th Birth Anniversary

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan observed Eid Miladun Nabi with religious devotion and nationwide celebrations as Muslims commemorated the birth anniversary of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him), with this year’s observance carrying added significance due to the commemoration of his 1,500th birth anniversary.

The occasion was marked on 12 Rabiul Awwal, the third month of the Islamic lunar calendar, with mosques, streets and public spaces decorated with green flags, colourful lights and banners.

The day also coincided with Pakistan’s Defence Day celebrations.

Nationwide Celebrations Begin with Gun Salutes

The public holiday began with a 31-gun salute in Islamabad and 21-gun salutes in the provincial capitals, according to state broadcaster Radio Pakistan.

Special prayers were offered after Fajr for the unity of the Muslim Ummah and Pakistan’s progress, prosperity and stability.

Across the country, citizens participated in Seerat conferences, religious gatherings and processions organised to commemorate the birth anniversary of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).

Markets and neighbourhoods were decorated with lights, while stalls selling badges, banners and flags added to the festive atmosphere.

Communities also organised gatherings and distributed food among people as part of the day’s celebrations.

Security Arrangements Made Across Pakistan

Federal and provincial authorities made special security and facilitation arrangements to ensure the peaceful observance of Eid Miladun Nabi.

Large numbers of citizens attended religious gatherings and processions, while authorities deployed security personnel at important locations and along procession routes.

Religious scholars, leaders and government representatives also participated in events highlighting the life and teachings of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).

International Seerat Conference Highlights Responsible Use of Social Media

The 50th International Seerat-un-Nabi Conference was held at the Convention Centre in Islamabad under the theme “State’s Responsibilities in Educating for the Beneficial Use of Social Media in the Light of Holy Prophet’s Life (Peace Be Upon Him).”

Participants emphasised the need for responsible use of social media in accordance with Islamic teachings.

The conference also reaffirmed Pakistan’s solidarity with the people of Palestine and occupied Kashmir.

PM Shehbaz Calls for National Renewal

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif urged Pakistanis to renew their commitment to building the country according to the teachings and example of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).

The prime minister said the occasion provided an opportunity to strengthen values of unity, justice, compassion, peace and tolerance in Pakistani society.

He said the Holy Prophet’s life provided a comprehensive model covering governance, justice, economic affairs, trade and social values.

PM Shehbaz particularly stressed the importance of educating young people about morality, kindness and truth so they could become ambassadors of peace, love and brotherhood.

He said Pakistan’s real strength lay in unity, tolerance and inclusivity.

The prime minister called for rejecting prejudice, sectarianism, extremism and hatred and promoting empathy, solidarity and harmony among citizens.

PM Calls for Welfare-Oriented Pakistan

Shehbaz Sharif urged Pakistanis to work towards establishing a welfare state based on principles of compassion, social justice and equality.

He said the government’s priorities included poverty reduction, education, research and ensuring equal opportunities for citizens.

The prime minister also called for integrating the teachings of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) into Pakistan’s national character as the country works to address its economic and social challenges.

President Zardari Urges Nation to Follow Prophet’s Teachings

President Asif Ali Zardari also extended greetings to Pakistanis and Muslims around the world on Eid Miladun Nabi.

He described the occasion as a source of joy and devotion for the Muslim Ummah and said the commemoration of the 1,500th birth anniversary carried a message to implement the universal principles of justice, mercy, brotherhood and peace in society.

President Zardari said the life of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) demonstrated that justice, fairness, compassion, kindness, equality and respect for humanity were essential foundations of a righteous society.

He urged citizens to shape their individual and collective lives according to these principles.

Call to Address Extremism and Social Challenges

The president said the world was facing serious challenges including extremism, injustice, social unrest and the uncontrolled effects of digitalisation.

He stressed that solutions to many of these challenges could be found by following the teachings and example of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).

President Zardari also called on the nation to put aside differences and work collectively for Pakistan’s development and prosperity.

He highlighted the importance of helping vulnerable people, including orphans, the poor and those in need.

President Calls for Help for Climate-Affected Communities

Referring to the challenges caused by climate change, President Zardari said government institutions, local administrations and relief organisations were working to protect and rehabilitate affected communities.

He urged Pakistanis to extend support to people facing hardship and ensure that affected families were rehabilitated as quickly as possible.

The president said helping those in need was consistent with the example and teachings of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).

Message of Unity, Peace and Compassion

The nationwide observance of Eid Miladun Nabi brought religious, social and official events together across Pakistan.

The messages from President Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif focused on translating the teachings of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) into practical values, particularly justice, compassion, equality, tolerance, unity and service to humanity.
