ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has congratulated the nation on Pakistan’s credit rating being upgraded by Moody’s from Caa1 to B3, describing the improvement as a reflection of international confidence in the government’s economic policies and reform agenda.
Addressing a ceremony marking the launch of the Pakistan National Olive Value Chain Policy, the prime minister said the government would provide maximum possible support to farmers to help drive an agricultural revolution in the country.
Prime Minister Shehbaz also announced that 100 young agricultural graduates would be sent to Italy to gain exposure and training in modern agricultural practices.
Separately, the prime minister met Sheikh Naif bin Eid Al Thani, Chairman of Retaj Group and Tamim Holdings, who expressed strong interest in expanding investment in Pakistan.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed investment opportunities and ways to further strengthen economic cooperation between Pakistan and Qatari investors.
Prime Minister Shehbaz also held a meeting with Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah. Discussions covered affairs of Sindh, ongoing development projects and political matters. Both sides agreed to maintain political tolerance and consultation.
A delegation of the government’s coalition partner, the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP), also met the prime minister. The meeting discussed the overall national situation and matters of mutual interest.
Meanwhile, Pakistan and Singapore have reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening bilateral relations across several areas, including trade, investment, the digital economy and environmental initiatives, as the two countries mark the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong exchanged congratulatory letters on the occasion, reaffirming the importance of continued cooperation between the two countries.
