KARACHI: A judicial commission formed to investigate the murder of Karachi businessman Mir Raza Ali has formally started its proceedings, with notices issued to key parties involved in the case.
The commission has summoned Mir Raza Ali’s family members and their lawyer, Jibran Nasir, for August 28. A notice has also been issued to the focal person representing the Sindh government.
The judicial commission was established earlier this week to conduct a transparent investigation into the murder. Chief Justice of the Sindh High Court nominated Justice Umar Sial to head the commission.
Mir Raza Ali’s body was recovered from Karachi’s Gulistan-e-Johar area on July 29. He had reportedly been shot dead, following which a police team initially began investigating the case.
The Sindh government later decided to establish a judicial commission to ensure a transparent and comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding his killing.
The commission is expected to examine the available evidence, review the investigation conducted so far and record statements from relevant parties as part of its proceedings.
